Assembly Logo Design
NATSICC, in partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and Catholic Schools Maitland- Newcastle, invited students to submit a logo design for the 2025 NATSICC Assembly.
They were asked to create an artwork that was based on their own interpretation of the Assembly theme - Pilgrims of Hope - from both a Cultural and Faith based lens. We received many wonderful submissions.
The final design is a combination of two submissions. One design was chosen for the artwork and the other for the hand drawn typography.

Artwork Description:
Our artwork is inspired by the Worimi Dreaming story, “The Creation of the Worimi Conservation Lands”. This Dreamtime story about the Stockton Sand Dunes is not only a rich narrative of creation but also a deep reflection on the themes of pilgrimage, journey, hope, and renewal. The story of the Worimi people—shaped by the forces of Malu, the storm spirit, Wooramah, the wind spirit, Garauh, the sea spirit, and Jookin, the sun spirit—speaks to the profound interconnectedness between the land, sea, and sky. This sacred site, where the land was shaped by ancestral spirits, is more than just a geographical feature; it is a living testament to spiritual journeys.
In our artwork, we’ve incorporated various Aboriginal art symbols to connect with the Worimi Dreaming Story and Catholic Faith, emphasising the themes of journey and hope. The Footprints represent the Worimi people’s journey and illustrate how each step we take with God brings us closer to a brighter, more hopeful future. The meeting spaces symbolise unity in our shared Christian hope, bringing us together as one community. We have also included fire symbols to reflect Pope Francis' call to 'fan the flame of hope,' encouraging us to look to the future with renewed hope and strength. The cross, a central symbol in the Catholic faith, embodies the hope found through Jesus’ sacrifice. It reminds us that just as the Worimi people endured hardship when they left their land, we too can find strength in suffering and the promise of eternal life with God. As Jookin, the Sun Spirit, shines over the Sand Dunes and Ocean, we are reminded of God’s guidance and the hope to overcome suffering.
