Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have faced adversity before, and COVID 19 is another challenge that we must face. In difficult times, we rely on each other to keep our spirits strong and now more than ever we need to use the resources around us to stay in contact with one another.


We have compiled some resources and information to help keep you and your community safe.

2021 Closing the Gap report - our response
August 20, 2021

In August 2021 Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced an array of changes to the targets, implementation and priorities of Closing the Gap. NATSICC is cautiously optimistic that the changes will empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organizations to address issues within our own communities, however the reality is that time is running out. The Gap is not closing in most areas and our people are paying for it every day.

We find ourselves pondering whether Australia will ever be the same after COVID-19? It might be more useful to ask whether it should be the same after the pandemic. Australia can continue to learn from the challenges of the virus and embrace the gifts of First Nation’s Culture to make it a better place for all.

 

 

NATSICC Palliative Care Packages 28 September, 2020

NATSICC is pleased to announce the launch of our new Palliative Care Packages project for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Established to address a strong need, this project provides Packages to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person (regardless of any or no religious beliefs) in the end stages of their life.

 

Care packs are available for any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person that needs them.
